The Swiss Data Alliance is committed to a constructive data policy at the interface of research, business and civil society.

The Swiss Data Alliance is an independent think tank for data policy. We are financed by membership fees from individuals, companies and associations, as well as by occasional research and publication projects. We expressly refrain from having administrative organizations as members.

How it all began

The Swiss Data Alliance emerged in 2017 from the environment of the association Opendata.ch. The basic document from the year of foundation describes the motivation for this step as follows: «In order for data to be used successfully as a resource in Switzerland in the coming years for the benefit of society as a whole, a forward-looking and broadly supported data policy is needed.»
