The annual conference connects business, civil society, research and administration with a view to the cross-organizational sharing of data. The Swiss Data Space Forum (SDSF) thus makes an important contribution to the development of trustworthy digital infrastructures in Switzerland. The Swiss Data Alliance organizes the conference in cooperation with digitalswitzerland and other partners.

Following the adoption of Motion 22.3890, the Swiss Data Alliance launched an expert group on the “Secondary Use of Data” in January 2023, which provides professional and practice-oriented support for the elaboration of the targeted framework law, including acting as a sounding board for the Federal Office of Justice. The group is under the patronage of National Councillor Matthias Michel (FDP/ZG), who submitted the motion in the National Council.

On March 25, 2025, the inauguration of the Gaia-X Hub Switzerland took place in Zurich. The hub is coordinated by the Swiss Data Alliance and ensures that all relevant content from Gaia-X is also available in Switzerland. This includes guidelines, specifications and open source components.
