A data room is a legal, organizational, and technical framework for the shared use and reuse of data by multiple actors.
Within a data space, data actors perform one or more of the following five roles: data users, data providers, intermediaries, concerned persons, and beneficiaries.
Data users gain access via data infrastructures (technical components for data publication, data preparation, and data use) to the data they need for their applications (data-based services) and which they are authorized to use in accordance with agreements with data suppliers. They compensate data suppliers and data intermediaries, for example, by sharing in the revenue generated by the use of the data.
The beneficiaries receive the data-based services provided by the data users and compensate them for this in accordance with the agreement.
If the data relates to third parties ("data subjects") (natural or legal persons), depending on the specific rules governing the data space, these parties have control over the disclosure of their data (by the data suppliers) and its use (by the data users) and participate in the results of the data use.
Data brokers provide technical, organizational, and legal support for data exchange between data suppliers and data users with appropriate infrastructure components (e.g., data exchange platforms) and services that facilitate the use of data (e.g., data cleansing, enrichment, and networking). They are compensated for their services by data users and data suppliers.
The cooperation between the parties involved and their data-related activities are embedded in a legal, organizational, and technical framework that is jointly defined and enforced by the data cooperation partners.
data room sponsorship
The cooperation between the parties involved and their data-related activities are embedded in a legal, organizational, and technical framework, which is jointly defined and enforced by the sponsors of the data cooperation. This results in the sponsorship. The sponsorship can take on the role of organizing compliance with the framework and (depending on its structure) also enforcing it.
