Definition: Digital self-determination

Digital self-determination is the goal of efforts in a state to help shape digital processes in such a way that the fundamental objectives of the responsible persons, companies, or authorities in the digital sphere are achieved within the framework of the Swiss legal system.

Digital self-determination is strengthened by data usage concepts that reinforce control over one's own data. Digital self-determination is the guiding principle underlying both the concept of digital sovereignty and the efforts of private individuals (individuals, companies) and public authorities.
